Center for State and Local Taxation

"The efficient provision of state and local government services depends on sound tax policies that promote economic growth and ensure a stable revenue base."

Steven M. Sheffrin, Director

The Center for State and Local Taxation was founded in 1990 by the Institute of Governmental Affairs at UC Davis to promote education and research in taxation. Through its programs, the center seeks to facilitate a clearer understanding of the effects of alternative state and local tax strategies on individual and corporate taxpayers, economic activity, and government revenues. The center is dedicated to promoting dialogue among members of the business community, government policy-makers, and scholars to identify workable tax policies that promote economic growth while providing sufficient revenues for government programs. Center affiliates are researching ways to make state and local tax systems more efficient and equitable.
