Stimulating Research & Discovery in the Study of Religion

Awarded to Zeev Maoz, Pennsylvania State University/Templeton Foundation, $121,438

This project will conduct an extensive meta-analysis of research on definitions of religion and typologies of world religions and their denominations.  From this analysis, it will work to develop operational criteria for identifying and measuring religious adherence in a manner that allows coding over time and across space and will develop religious family trees for classifying religious groups.
