The Network of Nations: The Evolution of International Relations, 1816 - 2005

This project develops a social networks theory of international politics that focuses on the microfoundations of cooperative international networks.  It views global structures as the outgrowth of national decisions to form cooperative ties of different types.  This theory offers a new evolutionary perspective of international relations as a set of interrelated networks.
